At Zenas Natural Therapy we specialise in women’s health and treat infertility with acupuncture and herbal medicine. We then support you during your pregnancy and prepare you for labour. After you have delivered your baby we can assist with post pregnancy treatments as well as treat your infants as young as one month old in order to build their immunity and protect their sensitive digestive system.

Fertility Acupuncture 

Infertility is a condition of the reproductive system resulting in the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse. Over 80% of all infertility couples can be helped with proper treatment. 

Acupuncture for Infertility can be used as its own treatment or can complement a medical treatment. Many research studies have been conducted on acupuncture for infertility and have shown to have positive results. Acupuncture can assist with the following;

  • Regulating the menstrual cycle
  • Balancing the hormones and endocrine systems
  • Decreasing the chance of miscarriage
  • Increase blood flow in the uterus, leading to an improved endometrial lining

What to expect during your treatment ?

At Zenas Natural Therapy our treatment protocols aim to increase the chances of successfully conceiving and having a healthy pregnancy. We combine different techniques such as electro therapy, moxibustion, Hijama Wet cupping and massage techniques in order to achieve best results.

The treatments work with the phases of your menstrual cycle or IVF cycle. We will also assist you to accurately track your ovulation time, which is the most important phase of your cycle.

A treatment Protocol is then recomended along with herbal medication to assist you with your treatment.

Chinese medicinal herbs and fertility drugs

Fertility drugs commonly prescribed for women can produce a 20 to 60 percent pregnancy rate however they include common side effects such as; abdominal tenderness, bloating, fluid retention, weight gain, and nausea.

Fertility drugs don’t perform as well for men (success rates are about a third of those for women). Herbal formulas can be prescribed for impotence (if impotence is a factor) which have minimal side effects and have reported success rates when combined with male infertility treatments.

Chinese herbal medicine produces minimal side effects while performing similar functions when compared to drugs. Herbal medicine and Acupunture helps stimulate the hypothalamus to effectively balance the endocrine system and its hormones. 

Acupuncture with in vitro fertilization (IVF)

Treatment protocols are specialized for patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), ICSI or IUI. Acupunture can help improve pregnancy rates and increase responsiveness to fertility medication.  Acupunture combined with IVF treatments  helps by improving blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, reducing the side effects of drugs and relaxing and calming the patient through this toughout this intense procedure. 

Acupuncture can be administered during each step of the IVF process Induction of ovulation, egg retrieval and Embryo transfer, to help increase the chances of pregnancy. Research indicates a 50% success rate when acupuncture is administered at the time of the embryo transfer.

Stress and Infertility

Stress is a key factor of infertility for both men and women. Stress can alter the brains neurochemical balance thus changing hormone levels and disrupting the pituitary balance which is important for reproduction. Stress can negatively affect ovulation in women and contribute to the cause of female infertility.

In men, stress can alter sperm counts, motility, and cause impotence. Acupuncture infertility treatments counters the effects of stress by releasing endorphins ‘happy hormones’ in the brain. An herbal formula can also be administered to assist with the reduction of stress for both male and females.

Support during pregnancy

Treatments are continued during pregnancy to assist with prevention of miscarriage and treating morning sickness . During the last trimester we prepare you for labour by softening your cervix to achieve delivery close to your due date. These treatments can also assist with shortening labour time.

How often should I have treatments?

For optimum results, treatments can be done weekly or fortnightly at minimum. For Natural conception we advise treatments to be done for a minimum period of 3 menstrual cycles. Acupuncture treatments may vary for each individual depending on their health condition, age, failed IVF cycles, hormonal imbalances etc.
